1. Register for an SBA Account

Before applying, you must have:
  • A SAM.gov registration (active)
  • A Login.gov account (used to access certifications.sba.gov)

2. Start the HUBZone Application

Once logged in:
  • Click "Start New Application"

1. Business Information

  • Legal Business Name (must match SAM.gov)
  • DUNS number (or UEI)
  • EIN
  • Primary NAICS code

2. Principal Office Location

  • Upload lease/mortgage or utility bill proving HUBZone location
  • Confirm at least 35% of your employees reside in a HUBZone
    • Provide employee addresses and verification

3. Employee Details

  • List all employees (full- and part-time, W-2 only)
  • Indicate whether each employee lives in a HUBZone
  • Upload documentation like:
    • Recent paystubs
    • Driver’s license or utility bills showing residence

4. Ownership and Control

  • Must be at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens
  • For SDVOSBs or 8(a)s, this may already be satisfied
  • Upload:
    • Operating agreement or bylaws
    • Stock ledger or ownership certificates

5. Supporting Documents

You'll be prompted to upload:
  • Articles of Incorporation or Formation
  • Proof of HUBZone address (lease, deed, or utility)
  • Proof of HUBZone residency for employees
  • Payroll and tax docs (941, W-3 if applicable)
